We’ve been hearing that quite a few people have been losing their jobs recently. The economy hasn’t yet picked back up, like we all want. What better time than now to start your own business? Did you know that the number of small business dramatically increases after a recession?
The okcCoCo is here to support entrepreneurs and so we have created the “Down and Out Coworking Plan”. If you have lost your job and are looking for another or are trying to launch a new business, we’ll give you up to six months of any of our coworking plans to help you get back on your feet. At okcCoCo we can provide you flexible office and meeting space as well as professional and social networking opportunities. Such a support network is critical for launching a new business.
Want more information? Contact us and tell us how we can help you launch your business.
When we started the okcCoCo, we wanted to create a place where you could not only work, but also learn and grow. We want to encourage people to share the knowledge and experience that they have worked so hard to learn with other members of the community.
It is with this goal in mind that I am proud to announce a new feature of the coco, Colearning.
Every Thursday night from 6pm - 9pm, knowledgeable volunteers will make themselves available to okcCoCo members. They will be able to help answer questions, solve problems, or simply help you get started learning something new.
Currently we have a number of topics covered, including:
- HTML
- CSS
- Javascript
- PHP
- JAVA
- Photoshop
- Ruby
- and more
If you have a specific need that is not listed, feel free to contact me and let me know. I will do what I can to line someone up for you.
Share Your Knowledge
If you are willing to volunteer your time on Thursday nights to help make the okc tech community better, please let me know! We are always looking for new things to share with the community.
We’re sad that Level 9 is moving out of the okcCoCo, but very happy for their success! They are taking up a much larger office space in Bricktown, converting the old Brew Ha Ha retail space across from the police station into what will likely be some of the best designed office space in the city. We even hear they have a rooftop spa - a must for any successful design firm!
In the time that Level 9 has been at okcCoCo, they have grown, taken on new clients, bigger projects and grown their team. It is really exciting to see them succeed in this economy. We hope that okcCoCo played some small role in their success and we wish them continued success.
Offices Available
Their departure means that we have some great office space now available! Offices available at okcCoCo are a spacious 250 square feet in size with hardwood floors, high ceilings and window pane doors. Each office comes with a reserved parking spot in our adjacent parking lot. Offices are located in a secure area, with immediate access to the okcCoCo coworking area.
Having an office at okcCoCo also give you access to our community resources including the coworking facilities, 14 person board room, 6 person conference room, social area and event space. If you are running a company from your office, we do our best to promote your services through co-branding on our website (see the sidebar), listing you in our service provider directory, and providing you sponsorships on our events like OpenBeta.
An important part of being part of the okcCoCo community is the professional networking opportunities that exist only at okcCoCo. okcCoCo members are some of this city’s top developers and developers. We host the meetings of a dozen technology focused community groups each month. We also run special educations events and host invited speakers that are free for okcCoCo members to attend.
To really understand okcCoCo and the benefits that having an office at okcCoCo can provide, you need to visit. Please stop by anytime from 9am to 9pm to get a tour of our facility and our available offices.

Next meeting: Saturday, June 27th, 7pm
What people work on will depend on who’s coming. There can be scrap bookers, painters, knitters, beaders, all kinds of needle work, some may be weaving. We’ve even had carving and people bring their sewing machines. Whatever makes them happy. A lot of people in the past take this monthly opportunity to work on inventory for their Etsy or other shops.
We also welcome sharing. If you want to show something off that you made, or a new tool that you’ve aquired, that’s great!
Newbies are TOTALLY welcome. We are hoping to meet lots of them at this first public event! If they want to come in to observe or add their name to our mailing list, they are welcome to do that too. In the past we’ve had people come from out of town and bring significant others. Sometimes they go do other stuff, sometimes they hang out, but they are welcome.
